Today is the last day of Hudson Country’s Summer Camp, and it is hard to believe a new school year is right around the corner. Next week is a “buffer” week. We will be busy transitioning all the classrooms from summer camps to Montessori learning centers. Every room gets broken down to it’s bare walls, any touch up and repairs are made, and the new lessons, furniture and room lay-outs are put in place. It’s a very busy time for us!
School Orientation & Meet the Teachers
All Danbury Montessori parents will get a chance to see the progress when they come in for Parent Orientation / Meet The Teacher days this coming week. These orientations are for all parents, both of new students and returning students. The orientations are broken up by class:
- Upper Elementary & Middle School – Thursday at 10:00
- Lower Elementary – Thursday at 11:30
- Primary & Kindergarten – Friday at 11:30
- Infants & Toddlers – Friday at 10:00
Students are welcome to come to the school during orientation. All Infants through Lower Elementary students will head outside for some supervised play while their parents and older students are in the Hudson General Orientation in the Gym.
General Orientation to Hudson Montessori
The General Orientation begins with the Head of School giving a brief summary of the purpose of a Montessori program and an outline of the school’s goals for the year. The School Director will go over the Dress Code, Attendance Policy, School Events, Parent’s Volunteers, and answer any questions you might have. Upper Elementary and Middle Schoolers are welcome to join their parents for this part.
Individual Classroom Orientation
All students will join their parents for their classroom orientation. The Head Teacher will review the room layout, identify key resources in the room, and outline the class goals for the year. Students will have a change to see new and old friends, meet their teachers if they are new to the classroom, and hear how the lessons will be structured throughout the day.
If you have two children attending Hudson in different classrooms, it is strongly suggested that each classroom is visited by a parent or family member. If this is not possible, please let us know so the teacher can arrange to meet with you individually.
See you at orientation; the start of a fun and rewarding upcoming school year. Orientation begins in the Gym.
