Middle school is both challenging and exciting for child, parent and school.
Adolescents ages 12-14 vacillate dramatically between their need for adult guidance and their need for independence. In this developmental balancing act, peer support, contact and approval become vital to every young teen’s self-esteem and identity development.
HCMS Middle School program offers individualized instruction and a supportive social environment unlike traditional settings.
Children with an aptitude for select subjects are encouraged to accelerate the learning process to reflect their superior capabilities. Guided by a master teacher, students design and take control of their education. They become more confident, independent, eager and willing to take on the challenges of more advanced academic content. Unlike traditional education, students at HSMS work on a lesson until they reach successful mastery and are not limited by a rigid, pre-determined time table. It is both academic rigor and individualized instruction and learning that promote substantial academic growth in our students. At Hudson, middle school students are encouraged to achieve their full potential in every aspect of their education. Our students excel academically, demonstrate advanced critical thinking skills and are leaders in our community.
Leadership, citizenship, technological literacy and life-skills are embedded in our Middle School Program.
Students plan and coordinate numerous school wide activities and community service projects. Middle School students are introduced to the fundamentals of business and have the unique opportunity to manage all aspects of the school store-from ordering and pricing to balancing a checking account. These projects allow students of multiple intelligences discover new ways to learn, apply knowledge and excel, as they discover their individual talents and leadership abilities.
